Tweed pleased to serve as Lift Expo title sponsor
Tweed will be on hand at Canada’s biggest cannabis tradeshow when it takes over the Metro Toronto Convention Centre this weekend. A first-of-its-kind event, the Lift Expo will feature discussions and presentations from market leaders and an exhibitor hall for the industry’s budding businesses, products and services.
As the title sponsor for the event, Tweed will have a 500-square-foot booth at the front of the convention centre, filled with staff from every department who are at the ready to answer your questions or have a good ol’ fashioned gab fest. From registration and ordering to the grow team and quality assurance, come chat with Tweed staff at our booth-turned-lounge over a (free!) cappuccino.
If you’ve ever dreamed of having your name on a Tweed jar or think your day job destiny is coming up with new strain names, now’s your chance to put it in motion - drop by the booth to snag your very own custom-labelled Tweed product jar.
Despite creating our own little slice of Tweed paradise at the expo, we want to give you the real thing. Expo-goers can enter to win an all-expenses paid trip for two to come visit Tweed in person! You’ll fly round trip to Ottawa and come for the royal tour in Smiths Falls, taking in the mom room, grow room and care centre, and meeting the staff that make Tweed tick in the process.
In addition to perusing the booths, be sure to drop in at the many presentations and check out some of the speakers on hand. Tweed president Mark Zekulin will feature on the list of Day 1 presenters alongside Hilary Black, Bedrocan’s director of patient and community services, who will discuss the roots of cannabis access in Canada. On Day 2, Tweed’s director of quality assurance Tom Shipley will speak on the science of extracts, while Katya Boudko will discuss natural solutions to pest problems in cannabis crops.
Other presenters slated to appear on stage at the expo include former Detroit Red Wings enforcer Darren McCarty, Jonathan Page of Anandia Labs, activists Dana Larsen and Jodie Emery, and Dieter MacPherson, president of the Canadian Association of Medical Cannabis Dispensaries. The Wellness Soldier, Cody Lindsay, will also be hosting canna cooking demos throughout the weekend.
Tyler Sookochoff, founder and CEO of Lift, says the timing of the spring event is significant. As the federal government works to rewrite new regulations for medical cannabis while simultaneously drafting laws for the recreational marijuana market, the need for community education has never been greater.
"We're extremely excited and proud to be hosting the Lift Expo in Toronto,” says Sookochoff. “The level of interest it's garnered already on behalf of exhibitors and prospective attendees speaks to the important timing of the event, as medical cannabis becomes more socially acceptable in Canada and the federal government looks to begin the process of legalizing for adult use.”
The Lift Expo will provide a sounding board to the nascent industry’s different, often disparate, interests. In addition to being attended by patients, consumers, LPs and dispensaries, the trade show will also play host to industry members, entrepreneurs, seed companies, cultural leaders and job seekers from Canada, the U.S. and Europe.
More than 130 exhibitors are expected on the grounds of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, where cannabis demonstrations and panel discussions will round out the weekend’s festivities. Some of the timely and pertinent topics to be explored in detail range from crime and security risks facing the industry and the history of access in Canada to the role of medical marijuana in the workplace and the future of cannabis genetics.
Can’t attend for yourself? Don’t worry! Stay tuned to the Tweed feed on Twitter and Facebook as we live stream from the expo. We’ll sit down for live Q/As from the Tweed lounge with a wide array of industry movers and shakers, and our live tour and updates will give you a taste of all there is to experience at the expo. Whether in person or online, we’ll see you at the expo!
